WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS TO MEMBERSHIP IN SCOTTSDALE PARENT COUNCIL?
SPC aims to serve as the united voice of the parents in SUSD. Members impact the educational environment of ALL students in SUSD by providing input and support for all educational issues affecting our district. Our members are the voices for their school and learning communities. Membership is essential to ensure representation from all of our diverse learning communities. Members also have access to information, guidance and resources on the matters that affect them most. Together we can help solve problems, identify issues and provide support for the education of our students.
WHAT TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP ARE AVAILABLE?
Membership is the core of SPC.
DO I HAVE TO ATTEND ALL OF THE MEETINGS?
No. SPC Representatives and Executive Board members are asked to attend all the meetings or ensure an alternate, prepared to vote by proxy, is in attendance. Non Voting members are asked to attend a minimum of one meeting.
DO I HAVE TO PAY DUES OR DONATE TO BE A MEMBER?
No. A monetary donation is not required for membership. However, making a donation is a meaningful way to support our mission. Please keep in mind that we are not currently a 501(c)(3) organization though we are an Arizona nonprofit. Please speak to your accountant before making a donation to determine any potential tax deductions.
DO I HAVE TO BE AN SPC REPRESENTATIVE IN ORDER TO SERVE ON A COMMITTEE?
No. General members are encouraged to join a committee that interests them. This ensures every member has the opportunity to have his or her voice heard. General Members vote at the committee level and the Chairperson votes on behalf of the committee at the Council level.
Members may select their preference for a Standing Committee when completing their General Membership Form. Fill out the form here. Please note, only SPC Reps or Executive Board members may serve as chairpersons of Standing Committees.
